Acidic
by Stephanie Kapinos
Cyanide kisses under 3,000 thread count
Seep into my mouth. Lips on my neck
Leave my skin pink to tell the world
You again made me your fool.
Breathe out deception onto my bathroom mirror
Clouding all perception of who I am,
Who you are
Turns my organs brown and tense.
Bend me over and push
My face into a pile of dirty clothes
Convince myself it’s kinky
I bleed for you
Thinking it means I love you
I take a razor to my flesh
Grab onto your boxers
Crying on the tile floor
Pulling me back
By my hair you whisper something
About your cock;
I hear “I love you”
Echoing in my mind
Are the words
From the phone call
The night you retracted
Your hand
Runs down my neck
A cold steel touch
Releasing a warm fluid
Mixing with my sweat
Producing a dizzying odor
Vomit creeps into my mouth
While I choke
The words I love you
Mean nothing
Except white noise
Drowning in your spit.
